Schomacker is a graduate of Luverne High School, and attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall where he received degrees in public administration, speech communication and political science. It was his time as the university’s Student Body President that helped him realize the need to make long term decisions.  Schomacker also earned his Master in professional studies through The George Washington University as an online option so he could stay in the area.  Schomacker is an independent public relations consultant. He works with political and non-profit organizations, along with small town businesses. Schomacker also served the last two years as a volunteer and part-time speech coach for the Luverne High School speech team. Joe has helped his family launch their own businesses as well, a Curves franchise and a cleaning business. He’s gotten a keen perspective from these businesses - balancing budgets, drumming up business, complying with burdensome state regulations, and paying tax after tax!
